Recreation of a 2005 Choreographic Work

Maria Donata D’Urso has recreated her 2005 choreographic work Collection particulière for performances scheduled from October 21 to 23, 2026, at Ménagerie de verre in Paris. The piece originally premiered in June 2005 at the International Choreographic Meetings of Seine-Saint-Denis.

Exploration of Movement and the Body

Collection particulière explores the skin as the origin of movement, the interface between the body and the world, and the envelope that protects and connects individuals. D’Urso describes the solo as addressing the invention of an architecture for the body, based on an in-depth research of somatic states, where the body becomes both the architect and the architecture of the stage space.

Innovative Movement Device

The device created for this piece involves reversing the supports and dynamics of movement to the horizontal, composing body states where gravity and suspension continuously intersect. The dialogue between sensory narrative and the “horizontal medium” of space constitutes the source of the writing of this solo.

Revisiting the Work in a New Context

Replaying and reactivating this stage device today implies retracing the narrative thread of sensations in another perceptual and temporal context, potentially opening up new interpretive perspectives. This revival allows the work to be experienced anew, with possible shifts in meaning and perception.
