Dyson has entered the oral hygiene market with the CameraJet, a high-tech toothbrush that includes a built-in camera and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve brushing effectiveness. The device, launched on September 1, 2026, is designed to identify and target the spaces between teeth by using a macro camera and AI to guide a targeted mouthwash spray. Priced at 479 euros, the CameraJet comes with a brush head, two replacement heads, a charging station, and a travel case. It is available in two colors: Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink.
The CameraJet combines three oral hygiene steps—sonic brushing, flossing, and mouthwash rinsing—into one device. Dyson refers to this feature as Gap Optical Targeting, which uses a high-resolution camera and AI trained on 470,000 dental images to detect interdental spaces. The system captures 28 images per second and can trigger a conical spray of mouthwash in under 100 milliseconds once a gap is identified. This integration aims to improve plaque removal by ensuring the mouthwash reaches hard-to-reach areas.
Dyson claims that a test in Italy with 60 participants showed up to 58% less plaque compared to traditional brushing methods. However, these results are based on internal testing and have not been independently verified. The MyDyson app allows users to view real-time images of their mouth while brushing, though the company states that no images are stored or recorded.
The CameraJet faces competition from well-known brands like Oral-B and Philips, which offer similar sonic toothbrushes with app tracking features at much lower prices. While the CameraJet stands out with its integrated camera and automatic rinsing function, its high cost and larger size may make it more suitable for niche users rather than the general public. Additionally, the device's mouthwash reservoir needs to be refilled regularly, adding to the daily routine. Some users may also find the larger size less convenient compared to traditional electric toothbrushes.
