RugOne’s Xsnap 7 Pro is a durable smartphone designed for extreme conditions, featuring a detachable action camera module that can be used independently. This device is built to withstand harsh environments, with ratings of IP68 and IP69K, which means it can survive being submerged in water up to two meters deep for 30 minutes and endure high-pressure water jets. The phone was first introduced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 and is now launching through Kickstarter on September 7th for €799 (approximately $930), with limited availability. A wider global release is planned for October at a retail price of $999. The detachable camera module is designed for versatility, capable of recording up to 40 minutes of video at a resolution of 2.7K and 30 frames per second. It weighs just 39 grams and is waterproof up to five meters without needing extra protection. The Xsnap 7 Pro itself includes a 50-megapixel "AI main camera" with optical image stabilization, ideal for capturing clear images even in motion. It also features a 64MP infrared night-vision camera with built-in IR LEDs, allowing users to take detailed black-and-white photos of wildlife during the night. The phone includes a large 6.67-inch display with a peak brightness of 1,700 nits and a high refresh rate of up to 120Hz, ensuring clear visuals even in bright sunlight. It is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 processor, which offers strong performance for both everyday use and demanding tasks. The device can survive drops from up to 1.5 meters onto concrete, making it suitable for outdoor and adventurous activities. A companion magnet pendant will be included, allowing users to attach the camera module to their clothing or gear for hands-free recording. RugOne, the company behind the Xsnap 7 Pro, is part of Ulefon, a brand that has been manufacturing rugged smartphones for several years. While the Xsnap 7 Pro’s camera module is impressive, it is not as advanced as the DJI Osmo Nano or the Insta360 Go Ultra. The phone will be available for purchase globally on Amazon and RugOne’s website in October, offering two color options: Sand Dune and Classic Black.
