Discovery of puppies sparks local reaction

Nine puppies of an undetermined breed were found locked inside a cardboard box near a communal cemetery in the Lot-et-Garonne department. The puppies, only a few days old, were discovered packed inside the box and placed at the base of a trash can.

Animal protection group takes charge

The animal protection association Justine & Co, based in Nérac, immediately took charge of the young litter. The group is now working to ensure the puppies receive the care they need to survive.

Emergency effort to feed the newborns

A race against time has begun to feed and care for the newborns, as they require constant attention and targeted care. Foster families and volunteers are taking turns day and night to feed the puppies with bottles, while also providing them with warmth.

Formula shortage creates urgent need

The organization is facing an emergency as it runs out of puppy formula. At this stage of development, each portion is essential for the puppies’ survival. Justine & Co has launched an appeal for solidarity to fund the purchase of this specific milk.

Call for witnesses to identify abuser

In parallel, a call for witnesses has been launched to try to identify the person or persons responsible for abandoning the puppies. Anyone who noticed any suspicious movements near the cemetery is invited to come forward.

Adoption not yet possible for the puppies

The association reminds the public that the nine survivors are not currently available for adoption, as all efforts are focused on their survival. While no additional foster families are needed for this litter, the organization notes it is still looking for temporary homes for kittens.
