Khoumagueli solar project underway in Guinea

The Khoumagueli power plant, a solar project in Guinea with a capacity of 50 MW, is being developed to enhance the country's electricity supply. AXIAN Energy, part of the AXIAN group that builds and manages power plants across Africa, has joined the project as a partner.

AXIAN replaces previous partner in project

AXIAN Energy will replace Solvéo Énergies as a partner of InfraCo, the project development arm of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG). The company's general director, Benjamin Memmi, shared on social media that construction could begin as early as 2027.

Future electricity sales already secured

The Khoumagueli plant has already secured a buyer for its future electricity output. In May 2021, the project developers announced a 25-year sales agreement with Électricité de Guinée, the public company responsible for the national power grid.

Complementing existing infrastructure

The Khoumagueli solar plant is intended to work alongside the Garafiri dam, which has a capacity of 75 MW. During the day, the solar plant will generate electricity, allowing the dam to store more water to power its turbines at night.

AXIAN expands renewable energy investments

With this new project, AXIAN continues its expansion in renewable energy, especially in West Africa. The company, still working with InfraCo, signed a financing agreement with FMO, the Dutch development bank, for a 50 MWc power plant.

AXIAN completes financing in Senegal

In Senegal, AXIAN finalized the financing for the NEA Kolda project, a 60 MWc solar power plant that includes battery storage solutions. This marks another step in the company's growth in renewable energy across the region.
