Amazon has launched the Fire TV Stick 4K PLUS, now priced at 37.99 €, a reduction of about 32% from its usual cost. This new model follows the popularity of the earlier Fire TV Stick 4K, which was well-received by users. The Fire TV Stick 4K PLUS includes some improvements, such as the addition of Wi-Fi 6, a faster processor, and 2 GB of RAM. It supports full HDR coverage, including Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, as well as Dolby Atmos for enhanced audio. It also offers support for Xbox Cloud Gaming and a feature called description-based search, which allows users to search for content using natural language. Despite these upgrades, the Fire TV Stick 4K PLUS has certain limitations. It supports only Miracast for screen mirroring, lacking AirPlay or Google Cast options. It also uses a micro-USB port instead of the newer USB-C. Wi-Fi 6 is not available on this model but is included in the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Overall, the Fire TV Stick 4K PLUS offers only minor updates to the previous version rather than a major redesign. For users who are already happy with their Fire TV Stick 4K and find it performs well, there is no urgent need to upgrade to the new model. However, the Fire TV Stick 4K PLUS could be a good choice for those looking for an HDMI streaming device with a strong balance of quality and price, while keeping in mind its limitations. In addition, Amazon has introduced the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, a more budget-friendly option within the Amazon ecosystem. It supports 4K HDR10+ and includes a functional Alexa remote. It runs on Vega OS, a new operating system developed by Amazon that promises improved performance but restricts users from installing third-party apps, which is a feature some users may expect. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select is ideal for those who want an affordable 4K streaming device for services like Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+. However, it may not be suitable for users who prefer greater software flexibility.
