Unsubordinated France accuses police of planned arrest

Unsubordinated France, a left-wing political party in France, claimed that its deputy from Vaucluse, Raphaël Arnault, was the intended target of a planned police arrest at Lyon station when his train arrived in the morning. The party alleged that the operation failed because of a police error regarding the train Arnault was traveling on.

LFI calls for transparency

The LFI parliamentary group, which represents Unsubordinated France, stated in a press release that Raphaël Arnault "has nothing to hide and is always available to the justice system." They emphasized that the failed attempt was part of a broader pattern of targeting Arnault, who is the founder of the now-dissolved antifascist movement Jeune Garde.

Accusation of a staged operation

Unsubordinated France denounced the incident as a "staged operation" following several statements by the Prime Minister that specifically targeted Raphaël Arnault. The statement was released during the government questions session at the National Assembly, where Arnault was present.

Interior Minister links party to far-left groups

Earlier in the same session, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez cited Arnault as evidence of a "link" between Unsubordinated France and certain far-left groups. This came amid ongoing scrutiny of the party, particularly following the death of far-right activist Quentin Deranque in Lyon in February.

Controversy surrounding Jeune Garde

Raphaël Arnault, the founder of the now-dissolved Jeune Garde, has been embroiled in controversy since Deranque’s death. Several of his close associates have been arrested and charged with murder or complicity in the case. The situation has created significant tension around Arnault’s political role and activities.
