A physical version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 has been announced, including its downloadable content (DLC) called Mega Dimension. The game will be released on cartridge on October 29, as confirmed by The Pokémon Company. This version will be playable on the new Switch 2 console, but it will also work with the current Switch model, giving players the flexibility to purchase it now and switch consoles later if desired. Mega Dimension is the DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A and was initially controversial due to its price of 30€ and its release before the main game. It adds a new storyline focused on extra-dimensional rifts caused by the Pokémon Hoopa. The DLC allows players to temporarily use Pokémon with levels higher than 100 and encounter more Mega Evolutions, such as Darkrai, Magearna, and Glaivodo. It also introduces new and powerful Mega Z Evolutions for popular Pokémon like Lucario, Absol, and Carchakrok. Additionally, it provides easier access to the Chroma Charm through new research missions and increases the chances of catching shiny Pokémon. The combined physical release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Mega Dimension offers a convenient way for players to get the complete game, especially during the holiday season. Purchasers will also receive 100 Hyper Balls as a bonus. Since Nintendo has no major new Pokémon games planned for the holidays, the re-release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A on Switch 2 is seen as a good compromise. Players will need to wait a bit longer for the next generation of Pokémon games, which are expected to be exclusive to Switch 2: Pokémon Vents and Pokémon Vagues. Some fans speculate that re-releases of older games like Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald might be coming soon, but no official confirmation has been made. In the meantime, a review of Pokémon Legends: Z-A on IGN France gave it a score of 6/10. The review praised the game’s quality of life features and satisfying combat but criticized its dull and generic artistic direction.
