Frédéric Dusart to coach Turkey's women's team

Frédéric Dusart may soon become the head coach of Turkey's national women's basketball team, according to reports from Turkish journalist Can Bedel. He would replace Andrea Mazzon, who has already announced her departure. The Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) is expected to officially confirm the appointment in the near future.

Dusart to keep role with Galatasaray

Dusart was appointed head coach of Galatasaray this summer and is expected to continue in that role with the Istanbul club. This would make him hold two positions in Turkey, following his earlier work with the Belgian national team.

Dusart's coaching background

Dusart's career has spanned France, Belgium, and China. He began his coaching career in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, where he served as an assistant from 2005 to 2012 before taking charge of the first team. Under his leadership, ESBVA-LM won the EuroCup women's title in 2015 and the French championship in 2017.

Dusart's recent achievements

In 2019, Dusart moved to Belgium to coach Castors Braine, where he led the team to national prominence, winning both the cup and championship in 2025. He then joined Sichuan Yuanda Meile in China in the summer of 2025, winning the Chinese championship title in 2026 before accepting Galatasaray's offer.

Dusart's current team and challenges

Dusart will coach French internationals Marine Fauthoux and Janelle Salaün. Before their arrival, he won his first two regular season matches with Galatasaray but suffered a heavy defeat in the EuroLeague this Thursday against Schio (66-84).

Dusart's international experience

Dusart has prior experience with international basketball, having been an assistant coach for the Belgian national team under Mike Thibault and working with Belgian youth national teams. Taking on the role of head coach for Turkey's national team would represent a new challenge for Dusart, as he would move from the role of assistant to that of head coach while continuing his work with Galatasaray.

Turkey's national team performance

Turkey, which finished seventh in the EuroBasket and lost all three group matches at the recent World Cup in Germany, is expected to announce Dusart's appointment officially soon.
