A new 500 euro grant for home EV charging stations aims to cut costs for used EV owners, replacing a discontinued tax credit starting in 2027.
New grant for EV charging stations
The government has announced a new 500 euro grant for installing home charging stations, set to take effect on January 1, 2027. This replaces a tax credit that was discontinued a year ago and is aimed at lowering the cost for individuals who want to install connected charging stations.Grant eligibility and restrictions
The grant is only available to individuals who purchase used electric vehicles and do not already own an electric vehicle or choose a new model. It is not available to those living in condominiums, who remain under the Advenir program.Advenir program for condominium residents
The Advenir program finances up to 50% of the cost of installing a charging point in a private parking space within a multi-family building. The funding limit for this program has been raised to 1,000 euros HT.Funding mechanism and installation requirements
The new grant is funded through energy savings certificates (CEE), similar to the social leasing program and the current ecological bonus. Installation must be done by a qualified IRVE professional for equipment above 3.7 kW, with installation costs ranging from 1,500 to 2,500 euros.Estimated savings and benefits
The 500 euro grant is expected to significantly reduce the final cost of installation. According to the Ministry of Energy, it will lower the average annual charging budget from 420 to 270 euros, saving 150 euros per year, or up to 300 euros with bidirectional technology (V2G).
