Roadworks on departmental road 900 in Vaucluse will begin November 2, aiming to improve safety and reduce noise with new resurfacing techniques.
Road work begins in Vaucluse
Works on departmental road 900 in Vaucluse will begin soon. The project, which will last three weeks, is set to start on Monday, November 2, and will cover nearly five kilometers of road between the communes of Coustellet and Beaumettes (Vaucluse).Funding and purpose of the project
The project is fully funded by the Departmental Council of Vaucluse to the amount of 1.05 million euros, as stated on its website. The works aim to rehabilitate the road surface in order to "ensure the safety and comfort of users," due to the general deterioration and certain road edges showing subsidence.Traffic management during the works
Traffic will be slightly disrupted starting on Monday, November 2. To avoid traffic jams, the departmental council has planned the installation of traffic lights on the road and a traffic alternation system. These measures will be applicable during the day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., only from Monday to Friday during the works.Details of the road resurfacing
The road will be resurfaced between 4 and 12 cm depending on the location. The area, which needs to be reinforced, will be treated with an 8 cm layer of gravel bitumen. The wearing course will also be renewed with a thin layer of luminous concrete applied at a thickness of 4 cm. This coating allows to reduce the noise from vehicle movement.Benefits of the new surface
Composed of gravel and bitumen, the structure will have more empty spaces between the grains on the road. In summary, it will be more permeable and the road surface "more ventilated." This system aims to absorb part of the noise, reducing vibrations and limiting the "whistling" effect of air trapped under the tires.
