The Ghost of Yotei video game has released a new downloadable content (DLC) called Echoes of Sekigahara, which adds a new region to the game and introduces a special armor for the main character, Atsu. This armor, called the "Chosen Wolf's Armor," is inspired by wolves and is part of a story that explores themes of loyalty and betrayal. To access the DLC, players must own the Complete Edition of the game and complete certain earlier tasks in the main story. Once in the new region, players begin with a short introductory quest that leads them to a key moment where Atsu observes a wolf leaving. From there, they follow a marker to the "Chosen Wolf" quest. This quest involves meeting Ugetsu, a storyteller who shares the tale of the Makami, legendary wolves who formed a bond with a human before being hunted down by a figure named Tatari, a wolf hunter. Players must purify three Makami altars through a ritual that includes burning incense. Each altar presents a challenge: the first requires players to repel Tatari, the second involves fighting enemies sent by him, and the third leads to obtaining the armor and defeating Tatari permanently. The "Chosen Wolf's Armor" can be enhanced at a blacksmith using unique resources like Snake Stews, which are only found in the Echoes of Sekigahara region. When fully upgraded, the armor grants Atsu the ability to summon a wolf and two Makami wolves to attack enemies. This ability is activated by pressing the L1 and R1 buttons on the controller, which uses up three spirit points. The summoned wolves attack nearby enemies and deal moderate damage. Additionally, enemies killed by the wolves have a chance to drop empty saké jars, which players can throw at opponents to trigger special attacks called wolf Critical Strikes. This DLC adds depth to Ghost of Yotei by expanding its world and offering new gameplay mechanics that enhance combat. It also enriches the game's narrative, introducing characters and themes that complement the original story.
