BYD Seagull's fast-charging feature

The BYD Seagull, priced under 10,000 euros in China, includes fast-charging technology called Flash Charge as standard. This system can charge a battery from 10 to 70% in 5 minutes or from 10 to 97% in 9 minutes.

Seagull's market position in China

Launched in 2023, the Seagull was initially the best-selling car in China but has since been overtaken by the Geely E2. However, it is currently undergoing a transformation that could position it as one of the most important new releases in the electric vehicle industry in 2026.

Seagull's design and features

The new Seagull has an extended length of 4.20 meters, offering habitability similar to its rivals. It includes a 380-liter trunk and the largest frunk in its category, at 94 liters. Additional features include storage under the rear seats, heated and ventilated front seats with massage for the driver, and semi-autonomous driving capabilities with a Lidar on the roof.

Seagull's power and range

The vehicle is equipped with an 85 kW motor combined with a 30.1 kWh battery or a 95 kW motor with a 39.2 kWh battery, offering CLTC ranges of 320 and 420 km respectively. In Europe, the Seagull is expected to arrive soon with a price range of 20,000 to 25,000 euros, aligning with the prices of its Chinese competitors such as Geely E2, Chery Q, and MG Go.

Seagull's European adaptation

While its range in the WLTP cycle will be a maximum of 350 km for the large battery, it will offer greater versatility due to its ultra-fast charging capability. The Seagull's design has been modified to better suit the European market, with a less radical style compared to its Chinese version.

BYD's European strategy

The vehicle's evolution reflects BYD's strategic shift to better position itself in the European market. Plans are also in place for a true small city car in segment A and a compact in segment C for Europe, completing the repositioning of BYD's offerings in the region.
