Fiber connection not available everywhere

The fiber connection is not yet available in all areas, leaving some homes reliant on slower ADSL connections. This has prompted some providers to offer alternative solutions for high-speed internet access.

Bouygues Telecom introduces 5G box

Bouygues Telecom offers a 5G box that connects to its mobile 5G network and distributes it as Wi-Fi inside the home. This solution requires no installation or technician visits and is designed for users who cannot access fiber.

Pricing and subscription details

The basic version of the 5G box costs 29.99 euros per month for the first twelve months, then 39.99 euros. A version with TV access is available at 34.99 euros per month for the first year, with a reduced rate for those under 26 years old.

Performance and speed capabilities

The 5G box provides download speeds up to 1.1 Gb/s and upload speeds up to 175 Mb/s, using Wi-Fi 7 bi-band technology. These speeds are suitable for streaming, video conferencing, and online gaming simultaneously.

No installation required

Users can simply plug the 5G box into an electrical outlet to connect to Bouygues Telecom's 5G network on the 3.5 GHz band. No telephone sockets, cables, or technician appointments are needed for setup.

Eligibility and coverage

Before subscribing, users can take an online test to confirm if their address is covered by 5G. According to the nPerf barometer from September 2026, Bouygues Telecom's 5G network ranks second in coverage, with 72.34 percent coverage.

TV version features

The TV version of the 5G box includes access to over 180 channels in 4K HDR through the b.tv key, along with 30 channels in replay and 100 hours of recording. A Wi-Fi 7 repeater is also available upon request.

Cancellation and portability

Users can cancel the service without losing their landline number by retrieving a RIO code via a free phone call. The new operator handles the cancellation and line transfer process. A connection fee of 29 euros applies for both subscription and cancellation.

Additional details and offers

The 5G box is currently available directly on Bouygues Telecom's website. Some sources mention varying speed capabilities depending on the Wi-Fi generation used. A dedicated offer for those aged 18 to 25 provides a reduced rate of 25.99 euros per month.
