Grokipedia, the encyclopedia project launched by Elon Musk in late October 2025, has not had any AI-generated content or human-proposed edits approved since April. As of September 30, 2026, the project was reactivated with a new design and logo, but the number of articles remains unchanged at 6,092,140, a figure that has not moved since August 6, 2026. The project's X account announced the restart, but the page that lists edits now shows many as "validated," although no new edits have been accepted in recent months. In January 2026, Elon Musk claimed that Grok, the AI system linked to Grokipedia, was growing rapidly and would surpass Wikipedia in the same year. At that time, the encyclopedia had more than 1.8 million entries and over 76,000 edits approved by Grok. However, since then, the number of articles has grown to 6,092,140, but the page listing edits now displays the message "no live edits are available at the moment." According to the media outlet Lawfare, no edits have been approved since April 24, regardless of the topic's popularity or obscurity. Lawfare journalists found that 12 edits were approved for the ChatGPT page on April 24, but all edits submitted in the following months remained "under review." This pattern is consistent across all subjects, whether high-traffic or obscure. Although users can still suggest edits, Lawfare analyzed 34,519 entries with at least one suggested edit and noted that over 225,000 proposed changes in the last three months have neither been accepted nor rejected. The process of implementing approved edits also appears to have paused. Since March 22, no validated edits have been implemented. Elon Musk's last public update about Grokipedia was on February 22, when he mentioned plans to add a community note system similar to that of his social network. However, the project seems to be on hold. Data journalist C.J. Robinson from the Tow Center for Digital Journalism previously found that Grok proposed more than three-quarters of the edits, but this data now appears inconsistent with the current state of Grokipedia. Lawfare also noted that many edits previously labeled "accepted" are now marked "rejected," with a significant change observed around March 14. Despite this, the system remains inconsistent, as some edits labeled "rejected" are still visible in articles.
