UGREEN's new gallium nitride charger

UGREEN has introduced the Nexode Pro 160W, a gallium nitride charger featuring a retractable 70 cm USB-C cable capable of delivering up to 140 W, along with a color display that shows power, voltage, and temperature per port. The charger was initially priced at 130 euros but is currently available for around 100 euros.

Retractable cable design

The charger includes a retractable USB-C cable housed within the unit, which can unwind 70 cm with eight stops and retract back into the device easily. This design ensures the cable is always available and eliminates the need to carry it separately.

Power distribution across ports

The first USB-C port can deliver up to 140 W, while the second port is limited to 100 W, and the USB-A port provides just over 20 W, all within the 160 W capacity of the charger. This allows users to charge multiple devices simultaneously without exceeding the charger’s total power output.

Gallium nitride and compact design

The charger utilizes gallium nitride, a semiconductor that has replaced silicon in high-power chargers, allowing the device to be compact and lightweight, weighing just over 300 grams. This material enables faster charging and more efficient power delivery compared to traditional silicon-based chargers.

Color display and app integration

A small color screen on the front continuously displays power, voltage, and temperature for each port, providing users with real-time information about device charging status. The Ugreen Connect app offers remote monitoring via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, port disconnection, and internal software updates.

Performance and user value

Testing showed that a MacBook Pro 14 inches could recover more than half of its battery in about 20-25 minutes using the integrated cable. While the price is considered high, the charger's power and features are seen as justified for users who need to charge multiple devices, including a Mac, iPhone, and tablet.
