Comedian John Bishop has canceled several upcoming events after sustaining an ankle injury while riding a motorbike with astronaut Tim Peake. The incident occurred on 30 August, and Bishop shared updates on social media, noting that his foot was "looking a bit fat" and "the bruising is out." The injury has forced him to cancel a live comedy performance at Somerset County Cricket Club’s ground in Taunton, Somerset, originally scheduled for 11 September, as well as his participation in Sir Chris Hoy’s Tour de 4 charity bike ride in Glasgow. Bishop took to Instagram to share details of the incident, expressing admiration for Peake, who he described as "a brilliant lad and a great cyclist." He humorously remarked, "I learnt a lesson today. Astronauts are better motorcyclists than comedians." Bishop is now consulting with a specialist to better understand the injury's recovery timeline. He had planned to perform alongside comedians Justin Moorhouse and Sally-Anne Hayward at the cricket club’s event, which has now been canceled. Jamie Cox, chief executive of Somerset County Cricket Club, confirmed that all ticket holders would receive full refunds. He expressed disappointment at having to make the announcement but emphasized that Bishop's health must be the top priority. "We apologise for any disappointment caused by these circumstances, which are entirely beyond our control," Cox said. He added that the club hopes to see Bishop back on stage soon and wished him a speedy recovery. The incident highlights the unpredictable nature of injuries and how they can disrupt even well-planned events. While Bishop's career has seen many highs, this unexpected setback serves as a reminder of the importance of safety and medical care when engaging in physical activities. Fans are likely hoping for a quick recovery so they can enjoy his comedy again in the near future.
