Sedentary behavior affects many adults
According to the National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (Anses), more than one third of adults spend 8 hours per day in a seated or lying position. This represents half of our waking time. Among those aged 18 to 44, 42 percent have a sedentary behavior. However, this sedentariness can contribute to the development or worsening of certain diseases, such as obesity, cancer, anxiety, and depression. In this context, Anses estimates that 95 percent of the adult French population is at risk of health deterioration due to a lack of physical activity or excessive sedentariness.New app aims to combat sedentariness
This alarming proportion has prompted Petit BamBou, the famous meditation and relaxation application, to focus on the issue of sedentariness and launch a new application named "Movement." The application aims to get its users moving several times a day to prevent them from remaining physically inactive for several consecutive hours. Ludovic Dujardin, who launched Petit BamBou in January 2015 with Benjamin Blasco through the company FeelVeryBien, stated, "As we have done since the creation of our first application, we have chosen to act where the problem occurs. For sedentariness, the challenge is to encourage simple daily practices."App features short, accessible exercises
The new application offers guided sessions of 4 to 5 minutes for the back, neck, shoulders, mobility, or stretching, without equipment or sports attire, and without performance goals. These sessions are part of programs developed with experts, such as therapist Grégoire Gibault, known as Major Mouvement, who is followed by more than one million people on Instagram. These programs meet the needs of the moment of the user, whether to relieve muscle tension, reduce minor daily pains, or simply awaken the joints in the morning.Expansion of Petit BamBou's offerings
Second application launched in 2026. With this new application to get the body moving again, Petit BamBou adds a new string to its bow. Last January, another application, named "Sleep," had already been launched. As its name suggests, its objective is to help its users fall asleep more easily. To do this, it offers simple rituals, from bedtime to waking up, to implement in order to achieve better quality nights. This application has 55,000 users ten months after its launch.Original app has wide reach
As for the original Petit BamBou application, dedicated to meditation and relaxation, it claims more than 12.5 million users in 190 countries. It even claims to accompany one in ten French people. Available in six languages (French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, and Dutch), it offers more than 1,400 meditation and breathing sessions adapted to all levels. These sessions are as many moments intended to improve the mental health of users, helping them better manage stress, chronic pain, concentration, or to overcome depressive symptoms.Company continues to grow
And the launch of the "Movement" application fits into this logic. Petit BamBou, which has never raised funds, acquired last year HypnoTidoo, a French application specialized in hypnosis for children, in order to improve the mental health of the youngest.
