PSG faces stadium decision deadline

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) must decide by December 20 whether to renovate its current stadium or build a new one in Massy or Poissy. The club is evaluating its options to ensure the venue can hold 70,000 spectators.

Renovation would require temporary relocation

If PSG chooses to renovate the Parc des Princes, the club would need to find a temporary home during the construction period. This is because the stadium would be closed for the duration of the work.

Stade de France proposed as temporary venue

Stéphane Troussel, president of the Seine-Saint-Denis Department, suggested that PSG temporarily move to the Stade de France while renovations take place. He argued that the stadium, which hosted the 1998 World Cup and the 2024 Olympics, is well-suited for the task.

Local football community sees potential for derby

Troussel also highlighted the presence of Red Star, a local club in Seine-Saint-Denis, which is close to joining Ligue 1. He expressed hope for a future match between PSG and Red Star, calling for more professional football in the region.

Seine-Saint-Denis emphasizes its sporting heritage

Troussel reiterated that Seine-Saint-Denis is a region deeply connected to sport and that the Stade de France is ready to host PSG during the construction period. He emphasized the area’s readiness to support the club’s needs.
