PSG sets stadium decision deadline

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has set December 20th as the deadline to decide whether to stay at its current stadium, the Parc des Princes, or move to a new venue in Poissy or Massy, according to L’Equipe. The club’s leadership, led by general director Victoriano Melero, plans to announce a preferred site by that date, though this will not be a final decision.

Negotiations to begin in 2027

As early as the beginning of 2027, PSG will start detailed negotiations with local authorities at the chosen site. These discussions will focus on securing building permits, financing, and transport infrastructure. The club is still evaluating three potential locations: the current Parc des Princes, Massy, and Poissy.

Parc des Princes as top contender

The Parc des Princes is currently the most favored option, with the club seriously considering staying at the historic venue. The plan includes a major expansion to increase seating capacity from 48,000 to 70,000. However, this would depend on a sales agreement with the city of Paris and overcoming complex architectural challenges.

Poissy offers modern stadium with challenges

The Poissy option features an ultra-modern stadium with 80,000 to 90,000 seats, located near PSG’s recent training center. The local government is open to the idea but has expressed caution, requiring strict assurances about road access, security, and the protection of the nearby Stellantis industrial site.

Massy project faces local opposition

The Massy proposal includes a stadium with 80,000 seats on a commercial area. However, this project faces significant development challenges and opposition from local citizen groups. These concerns could complicate the club’s plans for a new venue in the area.
