Oullins-Pierre-Bénite athletes' village approved

La Solideo Alpes 2030 validated the objectives convention for the future athletes' village in Oullins-Pierre-Bénite on Monday, November 2, 2023. The project is designed to provide 1,650 beds during the 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Post-Games residential plan outlined

Following the Games, the site will be converted into a residential district, including approximately 200 family homes, 150 student homes, and 300 coliving accommodations. The board of directors of Solideo Alpes 2030, meeting in Marseille, approved the convention.

Construction partners and timeline

The project is led by Sogeprom and Demathieu Bard, with the submission of the building permit expected in December. During the same board meeting, four initial innovative projects received financial support from Solideo, totaling 694,000 euros.

Sustainable initiatives supported

These projects include the rehabilitation of the Fort des Trois Têtes in Briançon and the Schappe factory. Among the initiatives are the reuse of grey water in housing, the management of construction waste through artificial intelligence, and the storage of rainwater.

Environmental framework adopted

Solideo has also adopted an environmental reference framework applicable to all Games sites, intended to regulate the management of resources, the reuse of materials, waste, nuisances, and the preservation of biodiversity.

Additional projects approved

Other operations have passed an administrative stage. In Savoie, the conventions concerning access to the future cable transport in Aime-la-Plagne, the renovation of the bobsleigh track in La Plagne, and the renovation of the ski jumping hills in Courchevel have been approved.

Montgenèvre development approved

In the Hautes-Alpes, the development project for the competition site in Montgenèvre, intended for freestyle skiing and snowboarding, has also received approval from the board of directors. With a little more than three years until the Games, the preparation of the facilities and their future use constitute two major challenges for the territories hosting the events and the Olympic infrastructure.
