A public meeting took place on Wednesday to discuss the renovation of the Praz de Courchevel ski jumps, which will be part of the 2030 Winter Games in the Alps. The meeting was held at the K120 Hall, located near the ski jumps, and attracted more than 60 people. Initially, the plan for the Olympic jumps at Praz suggested expanding the site, but the current proposal focuses on renovating the existing structures. Solidéo Alpes 2030, the organization overseeing the project, stated in a statement that the goal is to rehabilitate current infrastructure to reduce environmental impact and prevent new urban development.
The renovation plan includes modernizing and reinforcing two key ski jumps, the HS96 and HS132, to allow them to be used in both winter and summer. The project also aims to improve the geotechnical stability and drainage systems at the site. The stands, coaches' platforms, and towers will be rebuilt and renovated. The lighting system will be upgraded to LED technology, and technical buildings, networks, and both pedestrian and technical pathways will be modernized to meet safety, operational, and energy efficiency standards. Additionally, the funicular, a type of cable car used to transport visitors up the mountain, will be replaced by an inclined elevator on the same route.
The overall goal of the project is to ensure that the site continues to meet Olympic and international standards while also serving as a central facility for Courchevel, the French ski jumping community, and the region’s tourism industry. A public consultation period for the renovation project will end on October 28, with results expected to be published by early 2027. After that, the future of the project will be officially announced.
Other developments related to the 2030 Winter Games include projects at locations such as Grand-Bornand, La Clusaz, and the Confins de La Clusaz site. These areas are also being considered for various sporting and infrastructure developments as part of the broader Olympic planning efforts.
