Danish comics to highlight 2026 event

The 16th edition of the Salon du BD (SoBD), scheduled for December 4 to 6, 2026, at Halle des Blancs-Manteaux in the Marais, will focus on Danish comics. This follows the 2025 edition dedicated to Chile and continues the annual tradition of showcasing international comics.

Danish delegation to attend

A delegation of 25 Danish artists, including six main guests, will participate, accompanied by representatives from the Danish Association of Comic Authors, Frank Bruun Madsen and Tatiana Goldberg. The event will feature 100 original works displayed at the fair's entrance and a selection of albums available in French and Danish, with opportunities for artists to meet and sign books.

Featured Danish artists

Among the featured artists is Sussi Bech, a cartoonist born in 1958, known for works such as Zainab, Nofret, and Aida Nur, which have been published in 13 countries. Emil Friis Ernst, whose album Reservat addresses the climate crisis through dystopian science fiction, will also be present, with his work Dr. Murder and the Island of Death having been published in France in 2025.

More Danish artists and their works

Lars Horneman, an illustrator of over 100 children's books, will showcase his trilogy including Zenobia, translated into 19 languages. Anne Mette Lorentzen, an architect and author, will present her autobiographical graphic novel Skamlebben, which explores internalized homophobia and late coming out. Jacob Rask Nielsen, known for works like Musse Fitzmeyer, will be featured for his absurdist humor. Nikoline Werdelin, recognized for her series Café and Homo Metropolis, will also be present.

Event includes discussions and videos

The program includes three round tables on December 6, discussing topics such as heroines in comics, social satire in Denmark, and gender and the reinvention of the image. These discussions will be in Danish with simultaneous French translation. The event will also feature eight video portraits of the six main guests, available on the SoBD's YouTube channel. Access to the fair and exhibition is free, while the round tables require prior registration.
