Less than a month after the release of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, Cold Iron Studios is dealing with another round of layoffs. At least 19 employees are reported to have lost their jobs, though the studio is still required to continue developing and supporting the game. These layoffs follow a previous announcement by Cold Iron Studios’ parent company, Enad Global 7, which had already cut jobs last week. According to Insider Gaming, the affected employees were part of a team that had previously ranged in size from 50 to 70 people, based on public records. Enad Global 7 stated that these cuts are part of a broader strategy to reduce operating costs and ensure Cold Iron Studios remains financially stable in the long run. Despite the layoffs, the company emphasized that the remaining employees will continue working on Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, including its upcoming version for the Nintendo Switch 2, which is now set to launch in early 2027. The studio has not announced any changes to its current projects or release schedules. The video game industry has been experiencing significant challenges in recent months, with widespread layoffs and closures. According to Gaming Layoffs, over 11,000 jobs have been lost since the start of 2026, affecting at least 144 companies. At least 32 studios have shut down this year alone, highlighting the ongoing restructuring and cost-cutting measures across the sector. These developments reflect a broader trend of financial strain and uncertainty within the gaming world. Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, having launched on August 25, 2026. The game is part of the Aliens franchise, which is based on the popular science fiction film series. Despite the challenges faced by Cold Iron Studios, the game remains in active development, with plans for future updates and platform expansions.
