Apple has announced the release of the Apple Watch Series 12, which will be available starting this Friday. The new model was unveiled alongside the Apple Watch Ultra 4, marking the latest addition to Apple's wearable technology lineup. While the screen size remains the same as previous models, the Series 12 features a slightly wider case. For the 42 mm version, the width increases from 36 mm to 37 mm, and for the 46 mm version, it expands from 39 mm to 40 mm. The height of the case remains unchanged for both sizes. The screen resolutions have also stayed consistent with earlier models. The 42 mm model retains a resolution of 374 × 446 pixels, covering an area of 970 mm², while the 46 mm model continues with a resolution of 416 × 496 pixels, covering 1,196 mm². This means that the display technology has not changed since the last three generations of the Apple Watch. The Series 12 introduces some notable upgrades, including an advanced Health Sensing System and double the RAM compared to previous models. These improvements were not highlighted during Apple's keynote presentation. The slight increase in case width may be attributed to these new components, even though the screen size remains the same. This is an unusual move for Apple, which typically reduces bezels over time to make more room for the display. Apple's decision to widen the case instead of increasing the screen size is a departure from its usual design strategy. This change suggests that the new internal components required more space, even though the screen dimensions remain unchanged. The Series 12, therefore, represents a slight exception to Apple’s usual approach, showcasing how internal advancements can influence the overall design of the device.
