Cosmo Connected, a Paris-based company founded in 2015, has entered judicial liquidation, as confirmed by its Pappers file on June 11, 2026. The company had previously launched its full product line with the Cosmo Fusion helmet in 2022, which combined lighting and connectivity features. Despite its competitive pricing of 159 euros, it struggled against well-established competitors like Overade, Unit1, and Lumos. The bike accessories market had been particularly challenging for the past three years, and the company had been unable to sustain its position financially. The court had set a date of insolvency for December 11, 2024—about 18 months before the liquidation decision—indicating that the company had fought for many months before finally closing down. Cosmo Connected initially started with a connected lighting system for motorcycle helmets, designed to be attached to the back. The device featured an automatic stop light during braking to improve visibility and included a phone connectivity feature that allowed users to register an emergency contact. In 2019, the company expanded under the name Cosmo Moto and launched Cosmo Bike, a lower-priced product at 69 euros, targeting cyclists and scooter riders with features like remote-controlled turn signals. In 2022, the company introduced the Cosmo Fusion helmet, which integrated lighting that could be removed. The standout feature of the product was its fall detection system, which warned emergency contacts in case of an accident—something not offered by many competitors. The company's connected technology has created a unique challenge following its bankruptcy. While traditional lighting or helmets would not pose a problem in the event of a company’s closure, the connected features of Cosmo Connected's products have left users stranded. The Cosmo Connected app, which is necessary to pair the lighting with a remote control, is now inaccessible. Existing users who have already paired their equipment can still use it with a Fusion helmet, but new users cannot connect new devices. The emergency contact alert and trip tracking features are also now nonfunctional. In response to this issue, a potential solution is emerging. A developer is working on an alternative app called CosmoC Revived, inspired by similar efforts after the bankruptcy of VanMoof. The Android version is currently under development, and while an iOS version has not yet been planned, it could be released if there is sufficient demand. This initiative aims to provide continuity for users who still rely on Cosmo Connected’s lighting and helmet systems.
