Volkswagen unveils cheaper ID.Cross variants with a 37 kWh battery, starting at 27,995 euros, offering competitive pricing and features against Renault's new models.
Volkswagen ID.Cross introduces cheaper models
The Volkswagen ID.Cross has introduced more affordable versions with a smaller 37 kWh battery, bringing the starting price down from 37,800 to 27,995 euros. These models are aimed at buyers looking for a more budget-friendly electric vehicle without sacrificing essential features.Entry-level model specifications
The base Trend variant with the 37 kWh battery includes an 85 kW motor producing 116 horsepower and a 267 Nm torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds and has a mixed cycle range of 316 kilometers.Higher trims offer more power
The Life and Style variants of the ID.Cross also use the 37 kWh battery but come with a more powerful 99 kW motor (135 horsepower). These models accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds, slightly faster than the base model.Charging and battery options
All ID.Cross models with the 37 kWh battery include a bidirectional AC 11 kW charger and a standard fast DC 88 kW charging option. This allows the vehicle to charge from 10 to 80 percent in 23 minutes. The 52 kWh battery version offers a longer range of 426 kilometers but is not available on the base Trend model.Standard features and pricing
The base Trend model includes features like front and rear parking assistance, automatic high beams, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, and air conditioning. The entry-level price of 27,995 euros makes it slightly cheaper than the Renault 4, which starts at 29,990 euros.Renault's response to competition
To compete, Renault is launching a new base model called Jogging with a 36.5 kWh LFP battery. This model aims to offer similar affordability while including features like a heat pump, which the Volkswagen ID.Cross does not have.Higher trim prices and features
The Life 37 kWh variant with 135 horsepower is priced at 32,900 euros and includes features like 18-inch wheels, a rearview camera, and wireless smartphone charging. The Style version with the same battery costs 36,750 euros and adds features such as Matrix LED headlights, hands-free access, and heated seats.Financial incentives available
The Volkswagen ID.Cross is eligible for a CEE grant, which can range from 3,535 to 6,145 euros depending on the buyer's income. This grant helps reduce the overall cost of purchasing the vehicle.
