Fiat unveils new concept vehicle

At the 2026 Paris Motor Show, Fiat introduced the Multiplay concept, positioning it as a successor to the Multipla, a vehicle known for its unconventional design. The Multiplay aims to redefine the minivan for a future where SUVs dominate the market, offering a fresh approach that avoids repeating past models.

Multiplay blends SUV and pickup features

The Multiplay combines elements of an SUV and a pickup, measuring around 4.45 meters in length. It is designed to deliver the utility of a minivan but in a more compact and versatile format, appealing to those seeking practicality without the bulk of traditional family vehicles.

Fiat leadership highlights project significance

Arnaud Belloni, head of Fiat's family vehicle division, called the Multiplay "fantastically important for us" and "absolutely significant." He explained that the Multipla name, associated with modularity and unique design, was the only one that resonated globally for Fiat's family car line.

Multiplay offers flexible seating and features

The Multiplay includes a 6+1 seating configuration with three rows of two seats each, ideal for families and leisure. It also features a passenger seat that converts into a chaise longue and modules for pets and outdoor use, such as a "Petsenger" and a "Sunseat" that functions as a lounge.

Design aims to attract post-SUV buyers

François Leboine, head of design, stated the Multiplay is intended for the "post-SUV" era, targeting buyers who currently drive SUVs but seek more practical and adaptable options. The vehicle includes sliding bodywork that allows it to transform from a closed family car to a four-seat pickup with an open bed.

Fiat remains cautious about production

Fiat describes the Multiplay as a testing ground for future family vehicles. Belloni suggested a shorter version could find a niche in Europe, but Leboine warned that the market might not yet be ready for such innovative designs, emphasizing the need for consumer feedback before moving forward.
