At IFA 2026, JMGO introduced two new high-end projectors, the Iris Ultra and Iris Ultra Max, marking a significant advancement in portable projection technology. These models are among the first to offer 4K resolution at 120 Hz, a feature previously unavailable in portable projectors. While many projectors can achieve high refresh rates like 120 or even 240 Hz, they often do so by reducing resolution to Full HD. JMGO's new Iris line aims to eliminate this trade-off by delivering true 4K at 120 Hz, offering a more immersive and detailed viewing experience.
The Iris Ultra Max stands out with 6500 ISO lumens, significantly higher than the 4500 ISO lumens of the Iris Ultra. These brightness levels are crucial for projecting clear images in various lighting conditions. The projectors also emphasize contrast, a key area where DLP (Digital Light Processing) projectors often fall short. The Iris Ultra Max claims a native contrast ratio of 10,000:1, while the Iris Ultra offers 7,000:1. Both models use a double adjustable iris, a feature that helps maintain image quality in different environments. Additionally, an Anti-RBE (Rainbow Effect) technology is included to reduce the visual artifact that some users experience with DLP projectors.
The Iris projectors support VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), features that enhance the viewing experience when used with gaming consoles and other devices. These technologies allow the projector to automatically adjust its refresh rate to match the content being displayed, reducing lag and providing smoother motion.
Installation flexibility is another highlight, especially for the Iris Ultra Max. It includes an optical zoom with a projection ratio range of 0.88 to 1.7:1, enabling it to project large images from a short distance. The projector also features a motorized swivel that allows for 360° horizontal rotation and up to 150° tilt, making it easy to adjust the image position without manually moving the device. The Iris Ultra, while less expensive, retains the optical zoom and lens shift in four directions but lacks the motorized swivel.
The Iris Ultra is expected to retail for around 2500 €, while the Iris Ultra Max is priced at 3500 €. These are premium prices, but they reflect the advanced features and technology on offer. Pre-orders will open on September 4, 2026, and the true performance of these projectors will be tested once they are available for use.
