Lidl, a well-known German supermarket chain, is growing its outlet store network in France. These outlets sell discounted products from various brands, including Parkside, Silvercrest, Crivit, and Lupilu, with discounts of up to 60% off during specific periods. These stores are designed to offer customers lower-priced goods that didn’t sell in regular Lidl supermarkets. Currently, there are four Lidl Outlet stores open across France, with a fifth planned to open on September 18, 2026, in Mauguio, Hérault, near Montpellier.
The existing Lidl Outlet stores are located at 1 rue du Trou Grillon, 91280 Saint-Pierre-du-Perray (Essonne); Chemin du Puits de Brunet, 13600 La Ciotat (Bouches-du-Rhône); 12 Rue de Stalingrad, 93700 Drancy (Seine-Saint-Denis); and 190 rue Lalau, 59520 Marquette-lez-Lille (Nord). These locations offer a rotating selection of discounted items, often changing frequently to encourage customers to visit regularly for the best deals.
Lidl began testing its outlet model in June 2025 with two pilot stores in Saint-Pierre-du-Perray and Buchelay. However, the Buchelay store has since closed. Despite this, the company remains committed to its outlet strategy, aiming to open ten such stores nationwide. This number is much smaller than the 1,600 regular Lidl supermarkets already operating in France. Products that don’t sell well in regular stores are sent to a central office and then redirected to the outlet stores for sale at reduced prices.
John Paul Scally, president of Lidl France, explained that the goal is to expand the outlet network to more regions and strengthen Lidl’s brand presence in the country. The outlet model allows Lidl to reduce waste and offer customers value while maintaining a strong retail footprint across France.
