Red Bull Racing has officially confirmed its driver line-up for the 2027 Formula 1 season, with Max Verstappen continuing to partner with Isack Hadjar. Verstappen recently signed a contract extension that will keep him with the team until 2030, while Hadjar has also received a contract renewal to stay with Red Bull for another year. This announcement comes as Hadjar prepares to return to action for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, having missed three races due to a wrist injury. Despite the absence, he remains in eighth place in the championship, having finished in the top six in his last seven races. Isack Hadjar has been praised by Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies for his performance both on and off the track since joining from sister team Racing Bulls. Mekies noted that Hadjar’s strong rookie season in 2025 made the decision to extend his contract straightforward. This will mark the second consecutive season that Verstappen will race alongside the same teammate, a situation not seen since the departure of Sergio Perez at the end of the 2024 season. Red Bull made several changes in Hadjar's absence. Liam Lawson, who had joined the team for two races in 2025, filled in for Hadjar during the Dutch, Italian, and Spanish Grands Prix. Yuki Tsunoda, who had been with the team for the 2025 season, stepped back into the sport to support Lawson at Racing Bulls. However, Hadjar is now set to return to competition in Azerbaijan, with Red Bull confirming his participation on Tuesday. In a statement, Red Bull expressed their excitement about Hadjar's return, noting his successful recovery from the wrist injury. They also thanked Liam Lawson for his professionalism and contributions during his time with the team. Red Bull wished Lawson well as he returns to Racing Bulls, acknowledging the challenges he faced while stepping in for Hadjar. With Hadjar back in the cockpit, the team looks forward to the upcoming race in Baku.
