Cholet Basket has joined 14 teams in the two new pre-qualification tournaments for the NextGen EuroLeague 2027. Cholet will participate in a tournament in Vienna, Austria, from November 27 to 29, 2026, where they will face teams including Vienna Basketball, the Abu Dhabi Wildcats, the London Lions, Neptunas Klaipeda, Orange1 Bassano, the Veolia Towers Hamburg, and a team from the Adidas Select Program. The winner of this tournament will qualify for the qualification tournament in Paris, scheduled for February 26 to 28, 2027. The Pôle France, a French basketball development team, is directly integrated into the first qualification tournament, which will be held in Munich from January 7 to 9, 2027. They will face teams including Bayern Munich, Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, Joventut Badalona, Valencia Basket, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Panathinaikos Athens, and NextGen Team Munich. This participation comes in a specific context, as the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) has announced that the Pôle France will not participate in the 2026-2027 season of Nationale 1 due to ten players being unavailable for an indefinite period following serious incidents involving the INSEP team at the start of the season. The National Technical Directorate considered various solutions to maintain a team in Nationale 1 but ultimately decided against it. Remaining players in the Pôle France, mostly U16, will now only compete in the U18 ELITE category until the NextGen EuroLeague. In this context, the European event in Munich takes on particular importance in the training calendar of the Pôle France. The current NextGen EuroLeague program still includes the Pôle France among the eight participants in the German qualification tournament. ASVEL will be the other French team directly involved in a qualification tournament. The young players from Lyon-Villeurbanne will participate in the final event, scheduled from April 2 to 4, 2027, in Belgrade. They will face teams including Crvena Zvezda Belgrade, Mega Super Belgrade, Partizan Belgrade, Trento, and Hapoel Tel-Aviv, along with NextGen Team Belgrade and the winner of the Rijeka pre-qualification. France will also host one of the four qualifying stages. Paris Basketball will organize the tournament from February 26 to 28, 2027, featuring teams including Milan, Dubai Basketball, FC Barcelona, Manresa, Olympiakos, NextGen Team Paris, and the winner of the Vienna pre-qualification. The four winners of the Qualifying Tournaments will directly qualify for the 2027 finals, with four wild cards completing the eight-team bracket.
