Resident Evil story is being built step by step

Capcom has revealed that the Resident Evil franchise's narrative has been developed incrementally, with each new game contributing to the overall story. According to Jun Takeuchi, the franchise's executive producer, the conclusion of the saga was not planned from the beginning but has been gradually written over time, especially after the remake of Resident Evil 2.

Requiem marks a key development

Takeuchi noted that the release of Resident Evil: Requiem in February was a significant milestone in Capcom's long-term plans. He suggested that the series might reach its conclusion within the next ten years, though it is unclear whether this means the series will end or simply shift to a new narrative direction.

Future games include a Code Veronica remake

Capcom has confirmed that several games are planned in the coming years, including a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica, which is set to release next year. This remake could be another step toward the series' conclusion, though Takeuchi did not specify how many more games are planned, saying that revealing more details would spoil the experience for fans.

More remakes and new entries in the works

The Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake will be followed by Resident Evil: Veronica in 2027, which will reinvent an older part of the franchise. Rumors suggest that remakes of Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil 1 might also be in development. It is uncertain whether Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 will be remade or if they will be left aside in favor of new games continuing the story of Requiem.

Requiem's story continues with DLC

Requiem has not yet concluded its story and is expected to receive a mysterious future DLC, which may add further layers to the ongoing narrative.
