Nonna Silvi passes away at 85

Fabien Randanne reported that Silvana Bini, known as Nonna Silvi, died at the age of 85. Her grandchildren shared a message on Instagram stating, "For many of you, she was Nonna Silvi. For us, she was simply mamie."

Global social media presence

Nonna Silvi was one of the most famous Italian grandmothers in the world and a content creator with 4.2 million followers on Instagram and more than 2 million on TikTok, where she shared recipes, including pasta. For some time, no new videos had been posted.

Cause of death and final days

The cause of her death was a sudden illness that took her life in twenty days, according to her close relatives. They noted that she remained lucid until the end, speaking with her family and asking about their work.

Early life and career in cooking

She was born in 1941 in Monterespoli, Tuscany, and excelled in cooking. In 2006, she began making pastries for Forno Martini, a business opened by her son Marco in Castelfiorentino, 30 km from Florence.

Rise to fame through social media

In 2022, one of her grandchildren had the idea of filming her and opening accounts on social media to share her recipes. This led to an almost immediate success and international recognition, allowing her to publish several recipe books and cook for the royal family of Qatar in 2024.

Legacy and recognition

Nonna Silvi, who received the Content Creator of the Year award at the TikTok Awards last year, was described by her relatives as "a unique woman, of rare strength, who gave her family all the energy she had within her."
