France has entered October Rose mode, with the annual campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer beginning on October 1st. The initiative aims to highlight the disease, which is the leading cause of death among women in the country, with more than 60,000 new cases diagnosed each year, according to a study by the Curie Institute, while 12,700 women die annually, reports the National Cancer Institute. This year, a variety of events are being organized across France to support the cause. Walking courses, marches, and other activities are central to the campaign, recognized as effective tools both before and after cancer treatment. For those less inclined toward sports, non-physical events such as brunches, solidarity cafés, concerts, and tea parties are also being held to raise funds for patient support associations. For example, a brunch concert is planned in the communes of Chelles and Le Mesnil-Saint-Denis (Yvelines), while Asnières will host three Café Santé events on October 2, 8, and 15, 2026. Other brunches are planned in Saint-Étienne (Loire), Excenevex (Haute-Savoie), and solidarity cafés are scheduled in Vendée, Isère, Finistère, and Gironde. Some of these events may be reserved for people affected by breast cancer. Marches and hikes will take place in several cities between October 4 and 17, including Ajaccio (Corsica), Lille, Saint-Étienne, Grenoble (Isère), Annecy, Rennes, La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Montpellier, Besançon, and Troyes. In the Île-de-France region, many communes offering races will also host walks, particularly around the woods. In Seine-et-Marne, several intercommunal walks are scheduled, as stated in the statement from the Paris-Vallée de la Marne agglomeration. Nearly thirty walking courses will take place throughout the French territories. In Île-de-France, the largest walking courses will be held in Évry-Courcouronnes (Essonne), Chatillon (Hauts-de-Seine), Tremblay (Seine-Saint-Denis), Boissy-Saint-Léger (Val-de-Marne), Coulommiers (Seine-et-Marne), and Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines (Yvelines). In Paris, the start of the race is given at the Château de Vincennes. Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) will organize its triathlon des roses on Sunday, October 18. In the Hauts-de-France region, the largest race in the region will take place in Lille (Nord) on Sunday, October 4. In Normandy, Quiberville (Seine-Maritime) will host the largest race in the region on October 2. In Brittany, Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) and Concarneau (Finistère) will run on October 11 against breast cancer, while in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, three major races are planned in La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime), Bordeaux (Gironde), and Poitiers (Vienne), between the beginning and the middle of October. Races will also take place in the communes of Orléans (Loiret), Saint-Étienne (Loire), Grenoble, Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), Montpellier (Hérault), Besançon (Doubs), Troyes (Aube), and Annecy (Haute-Savoie).
