Game announcement at Nintendo showcase

HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate, a new snowboarding game developed by Mexican indie studio Wabisabi Games, is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam at the beginning of 2027. The game was announced in a trailer during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase and was first revealed during last year's Play Acclaim Showcase.

Nostalgic inspiration for the game

The title is described as a love letter to the SSX franchise and classic extreme sports games from the Y2K era. It aims to capture the style and spirit of those earlier titles while bringing modern gameplay and visuals to the genre.

Gameplay and features

The game allows players to ride exaggerated courses, perform death-defying tricks, and compete against a colorful cast of riders, including a taco snowboarder and a giant kaiju. Players can engage in big air challenges, chain explosive combos, and navigate courses inspired by real locations, whether playing on a big screen or on the go.

Multiple modes of play

The game features several modes, including Challenge, where players complete objectives to achieve high scores; Race, where players compete against NPCs or other players; Chill, which offers a relaxed experience; Multiplayer, allowing online and local play with up to seven friends; and Shred, which involves racing as a conscious taco snowboarder.

Developer's perspective

Anwar Noriega, CEO and co-founder of Wabisabi Games, stated that seeing HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate presented in the Nintendo Indie World Showcase is a dream come true for the team. He noted that the "Nintendo Seal of Quality" was once a mark of special, polished games, and being included in an Indie World Showcase feels like the modern equivalent of that badge.

Early access opportunity

Players will be able to try a Steam demo of the game next month. This will give them a chance to experience the gameplay and features before the full release in early 2027.
