A 32-hectare solar farm in France combines renewable energy production with sheep farming, offering a model for agrivoltaic innovation.
Presnoy photovoltaic park inaugurated
Last week, the Presnoy photovoltaic park was inaugurated in the Loiret department (45). This 32-hectare agrivoltaic power plant, built by ABO Energy and later transferred to Tenergie, combines electricity production with sheep farming on the same site.Dual purpose of the project
The Presnoy project was initiated in 2018 by ABO Energy in collaboration with Sandrine and Valéry Grégoire, local sheep farmers and landowners. The initiative aimed to meet the needs of the agricultural operation, particularly in terms of animal welfare, while also developing local renewable electricity production.Design for animal welfare
The project was designed to improve breeding conditions and the well-being of the sheep. On land prone to climatic hazards, the Grégoire family wanted to better protect their flock year-round. The solar panels, along with windbreak shelters, provide the sheep with protection from rain, wind, and intense heat.Economic benefits for the commune
The project brings significant tax benefits to the commune. These include the development tax during construction, the flat-rate tax on energy network companies, and an annual fee for the use of communal paths and roads.
