SNL UK has returned for its second season, bringing back the cast for another round of fast-paced sketch comedy. The show, which launched earlier this year, has received both praise and doubt from critics and audiences alike. However, it has clearly resonated with British viewers, who have embraced the show’s humor and creativity. Sketch comedy, a format that had declined in popularity in the early 2000s due to high production costs and shifting viewer preferences, has seen a revival with the success of SNL UK. The cast has been widely commended for their performances, with notable members including Al Nash, George Fouracres, Larry Dean, Emma Sidi, and Ania Magliano. Fouracres, famous for his impressions of UK politician Keir Starmer and his popular "45 Seconds with Fouracres" segments, has recently sparked excitement by potentially joining the long-running sci-fi series Doctor Who. He called the opportunity "the biggest dream ever come true." The production schedule is intense, with the cast working full weeks that include writing, rehearsals, and filming, with only Sundays off. Saturdays are especially grueling, often starting at 8 a.m. and ending as late as 4 a.m. after the live broadcast and an afterparty. The show has welcomed notable celebrity guests in its first season, including Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, and Nicola Coughlan. For the new season, actor Jeff Goldblum is set to host the first episode. The first season included a two-week break, and the cast is now more experienced and prepared for the demanding schedule. Nash shared that he has been practicing mindfulness and eating breakfast early to maintain focus, while Dean admitted that lack of sleep is the biggest challenge he faces. The new season will begin on 12 September, with the first six episodes available on Sky, and additional episodes planned for early 2027.
