Leïla Ka’s new dance production, Lullaby shot, is a contemporary dance piece that reimagines movement through a unique visual and auditory experience. Featuring eight performers, the piece moves away from traditional dance styles that emphasize verticality and grace. Instead, the dancers move in a percussive and horizontal manner, creating a dynamic and forceful presence on stage. The production uses lighting by Laurent Fallot and an electronic soundtrack to constantly reshape the space, with areas and boundaries appearing and disappearing to focus on the power and intensity of the performers’ bodies. According to the production details, the stage becomes a raw, open terrain where unpredictable and powerful moments can unfold.
The choreography is supported by Jane Fournier Dumet, who also performs in the piece. Other performers include Mat Iéva, Maëlle Le Pallec, Jade Logmo, Margot Ngosso Silo (who alternates performances), Pauline Richard, Elsy Robert, and Sara Tan. The sound spatialization, which refers to how sound is positioned and moved around the audience, is handled by Rodrig Desa. Lighting is managed by Laurent Fallot or Clara CollBigot, while sound is handled by Rodrig Desa or Sacha Menez-Allanic.
The production is created by Compagnie Leïla Ka, a French dance company known for its innovative approach to movement and performance. It has multiple co-productions, including MC2: Maison de la Culture de Grenoble – Scène nationale, Comédie de Genève, DSN – Dieppe Scène nationale, and others. The piece is also supported by Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels, a program that funds and promotes dance art globally.
Lullaby shot premiered on 5 November 2026 at La Garance – Scène nationale de Cavaillon (84), a renowned theater in the south of France. The tour will take the production across France and internationally, with performances scheduled from 10 and 11 November 2026 to 4 June 2027.
