Naughty Dog, the game development studio behind the The Last of Us series, has released a free animated wallpaper for PlayStation 5 consoles to celebrate the upcoming The Last of Us Day 2026. The wallpaper features young and adult versions of Ellie, the series' central character, from the two main games. It can be downloaded through the PlayStation Welcome Hub, a feature that lets users customize their console's home screen. To access the wallpaper, users can select the "Change wallpaper" option in the upper corner of the Welcome Hub and choose the The Last of Us wallpaper from the "Games" tab. No separate download is required. As of now, Naughty Dog has not announced any major updates or new game releases related to The Last of Us before September 28. However, the studio has promised additional revelations about the franchise on that date. While a new The Last of Us Part 3 does not seem to be in the immediate plans, Naughty Dog has hinted at a partnership announcement, a collaboration, digital surprises, and other surprises. Additionally, a charitable stream titled "No Return" will be broadcast on Twitch, raising funds for various causes. Updates regarding the third season of The Last of Us on HBO include the addition of new cast members and the return of familiar faces. Award-winning actor John Goodman will play a new character named Joey. Laura Bailey, who previously portrayed Abby in The Last of Us Part 2 and a nurse in the first season, will play a seraph leader named Elizabeth. Ian Alexander, who played Lev in the second season, will return as a character whose name has not yet been revealed.
