Acer has announced the Predator Atlas 7, a smaller version of its larger Predator Atlas 8 gaming handheld, set to launch in November 2026. The Atlas 7 features a 7-inch 16:9 Full HD touchscreen display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) compatibility, similar to the Atlas 8. VRR helps reduce screen tearing and improve visual smoothness during gaming by synchronizing the display’s refresh rate with the game’s frame rate. The device is powered by Intel’s Arc G3 and G3 Extreme chips, which include integrated B370 and B390 graphics units, respectively. These chips are designed to deliver high-performance graphics for gaming and multimedia tasks.
One notable feature of the Atlas 7 is the inclusion of TMR (Tactile Motion Response) joysticks, which offer improved responsiveness and precision compared to the potentiometer joysticks used in the Atlas 8. The device also includes Hall effect triggers, which provide more accurate and consistent input for gaming controls. Connectivity options are robust, with support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, as well as Thunderbolt 4 for the two USB-C ports, enabling fast data transfer and high-speed charging. The Atlas 7 will be available in two battery configurations: a 60 Wh version weighing under 700 grams and an 80 Wh version under 750 grams.
The device is equipped with a dual-fan cooling system to manage heat during extended use, dual Thunderbolt 4 ports for connectivity, a microSD card reader for expandable storage, and up to 1TB of storage and 24GB of memory. The Atlas 7 will be available in North America during the fourth quarter of 2026 and in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) starting in November. In addition to the Atlas 7, Acer has unveiled the 8-inch Project DualPlay Mini concept at IFA, which is designed to function both as a handheld gaming device and as a mobile productivity tool that resembles a laptop. This concept highlights Acer’s ongoing efforts to merge gaming and productivity in a single, portable device.
