YouTube rolls out personalized recommendation streams, letting users create tailored content feeds for different moods and needs.
YouTube introduces multiple personalized streams
YouTube has expanded its personalized recommendation feature, allowing users to create and save multiple streams tailored to their preferences. This update follows a test that began in 2025, where a single personalized stream was available through a tab next to the Home section.New feature available on mobile and web
The new feature was officially announced on September 23 during the Made on YouTube event and rolled out on October 22 in the United States. It is currently available on both web and mobile platforms but is not yet accessible to users in France.Users can describe content preferences
Instead of relying solely on YouTube’s algorithm, users can now describe the type of content they want to see. This creates a personalized stream that continuously updates with new videos matching the description, going beyond simple keyword searches.Redesigned home page layout
The update includes a redesigned top section of the home page on Android and iOS devices. The Subscriptions tab has moved from the bottom navigation bar to a new top bar, alongside shortcuts to live streams and music. Personalized streams are now displayed right after Home and Subscriptions.Creating and managing streams
To create a stream, users press the "+" button at the top left of the home page and describe their preferences. These streams replace the predefined thematic filters previously displayed at the top of the home page, though European users can still see these filters.Access restrictions and future plans
Access to the feature in the United States is limited to users who are logged into their account, at least 13 years old, using YouTube in English, and have enabled video and search history. Free users can create up to three streams, while YouTube Premium subscribers can create eight. YouTube has not specified when the feature will be available in France.
