OnePlus introduces open-ear headphones

OnePlus has announced the release of its first open-ear headphones, the OnePlus Buds Clip, aiming to compete with brands like Bose and Sony. These headphones are designed to offer a comfortable and adaptable listening experience while maintaining sound quality.

Innovative design with shape-memory alloy

The OnePlus Buds Clip feature an arc-shaped (C-bridge) design made from a nickel-titanium (Ni-Ti) shape-memory alloy, allowing each earpiece to weigh only 5.2 grams. This flexible structure adapts to the ear's shape without causing discomfort, and the symmetrical design allows each earpiece to be worn on either side of the head.

Advanced audio technology

Acoustically, the headphones use a dual-speaker architecture with an 11 mm woofer and a 9 mm tweeter. They are powered by a dual DAC and calibrated in partnership with Dynaudio, supporting high-resolution wireless audio through the LHDC 5.0 codec for improved sound quality.

Reducing sound leakage with special technology

To address common issues with open-ear designs, the OnePlus Buds Clip use "Dipole Sound-Field" technology. This emits inverted sound waves through rear vents to reduce sound leakage and maintain a more intimate listening experience.

Enhanced call quality and durability

For call clarity, the headphones use six bone conduction microphones and an AI audio chip etched in 6 nm to filter out background noise. The device has an IP55 certification, making it resistant to dust and water, and offers up to 9.5 hours of playback time, extendable to 40 hours with the charging case.

Availability and market strategy

The OnePlus Buds Clip are available in three colors: Pearl White, Pebble Gray, and Twilight Rose. They are currently listed on Cdiscount for 139 euros, though not yet on the official OnePlus website. The company continues to focus on the European market despite withdrawing its smartphones from certain regions.
