New open-ear headphones launched

One month ago, Bose introduced two new models to its open-ear headphone lineup, including the Sport Open Earbuds. These headphones use a clip-style design that has been well-received by runners and outdoor training enthusiasts.

Pricing and promotions

The Bose Sport Open Earbuds are currently available at a price lower than their original launch price, which was 199.99 euros. They are now available for less than 180 euros at Boulanger with the promo code BOSE20.

Design and sound technology

The Bose Sport Open Earbuds are referred to as "open ear" headphones, which may be suitable for athletes who find in-ear headphones too intrusive. Each earpiece consists of two modules connected by a soft silicone C-shaped arch that clips onto the ear, ensuring the headphones stay in place without blocking the ear canal.

Sound quality and stability

Unlike bone conduction models, the Sport Open Earbuds play sound in the air near the ear rather than transmitting vibrations through the skull bones. The brand claims that the sound quality is more natural than with bone conduction models. Bose assures that these true wireless headphones remain stable on the ears, even during sudden movements or intense training.

Durability and controls

The headphones are IP54-certified, making them resistant to sweat, splashes, and dust. The textured physical buttons allow users to control music, calls, and volume, even with sweaty fingers during intense effort.

Battery life and connectivity

In terms of battery life, Bose claims up to 7 hours of playback on a single charge, with an additional 22 hours of battery life through the charging case, which also supports wireless charging. The Sport Open Earbuds are compatible with Bluetooth 5.4, support multipoint connection to connect to two devices simultaneously, and support the SBC and AAC codecs.

Sound customization and features

The headphones contain dynamic speakers designed to deliver a full and balanced sound. They also feature the Auto Volume function, which automatically adjusts the sound level according to ambient noise variations. Bose has included other practical technologies, such as Bose OpenAudio, which allows users to enjoy clear sound directly at the ear while limiting sound leakage to the outside as much as possible.

Voice and location features

The SpeechClarity technology includes a dedicated microphone and a voice capture unit in each earpiece to isolate the voice from background noise, whether in a busy street or during training. However, these headphones do not include active noise cancellation, as they are designed to allow users to remain aware of their environment, particularly traffic or audible announcements. Thanks to a firmware update, users will be able to enjoy location tracking via Google Find Hub or the Alexa+ assistant for hands-free tasks such as booking a table or a music recommendation.
