For 25 years, the popular social deduction game Werewolf has remained largely unchanged, with players choosing from classic roles such as Villagers, Werewolves, Seers, and Witches. The game has become a staple at gatherings, often sparking heated debates and taking over lunch breaks. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Werewolf of Thiercelieux is introducing four new roles and undergoing a rebranding effort. This special edition unites 28 characters from the original game and its expansions, adding four brand-new characters. Alongside the new roles, the game includes four scenarios to guide players through unique storylines. The cards have also been redesigned in a heraldic format with gold accents, giving the game a more refined look. One of the new characters is the Puppeteer, who offers a unique survival advantage. If attacked by Werewolves, the Puppeteer’s puppet can take the blow, giving the player two "lives." However, once the puppet is sacrificed, the player loses the ability to speak and must communicate solely through gestures for the rest of the game. While this can help avoid elimination, it also poses a challenge in convincing the village of their innocence through mime alone. Another intriguing addition is the Learned Monkey, a role that highlights the risks of overreaching. The Learned Monkey can look at as many cards as they want for one night, but if they encounter a Werewolf card, they are immediately eliminated. This role serves as a reminder that sometimes, the best strategy is to be cautious rather than overly ambitious. The Colossus brings a dramatic flair to the game. If attacked by Werewolves, the Colossus can choose one of their attackers and send them to "Hell," effectively removing them from the game. However, this makes the Colossus a prime target for the Werewolves, as they will likely try to eliminate him first. Meanwhile, the Powerful Mother of the Wolves adds a new layer of strategy. Inspired by the myth of Romulus and Remus, this character strengthens the Werewolf side and poses a new threat to the villagers. Her presence could tip the balance of power in favor of the Werewolves, making the game even more intense. The anniversary edition of Werewolf of Thiercelieux will be available starting September 4, offering players a fresh challenge with new roles, scenarios, and design elements. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, these additions are sure to bring new excitement to every round.
