New mod adds cross-universe skins

A new mod called Incursion has been released for Gears of War: E-Day, allowing players to dress characters from the game in outfits inspired by other popular franchises like Halo, Star Wars, and Warhammer 40,000. The mod was created by Tom Whaley, who goes by the name @Unreal_Dev on X/Twitter.

Customization made easier

The Incursion mod streamlines the process of applying multiple character skins, eliminating the need for players to manually edit game files or reinstall separate mods. Players can access the new skins through an added option in the main menu or during gameplay pauses.

Sales figures raise questions

According to Rhys Elliott, a marketing analyst at Alinea Analytics, Gears of War: E-Day sold around 230,000 copies in its first week. This number is considered low by Microsoft's standards, though the data has not been officially confirmed by the company. Some analysts suggest that the game's sales might have been affected by the availability of the game on Xbox Game Pass.

Studio updates on future projects

Earlier this month, the head of The Coalition, the studio behind Gears of War, addressed rumors that staff were worried about job losses due to recent cuts at Xbox. The studio also promised that the next Gears of War game would be developed more quickly than previous titles. This may mean returning to gameplay elements like human shields and chainsaw duels, which were not included in E-Day.
