Gautier Battistella, François-Henri Désérable, and Bruno Verjus were honored at the 19th edition of Livres en Vignes, an event held at the château du Clos de Vougeot on September 25, 2026. Battistella received the Prix du Clos de Vougeot 2026 for his book Bocuse (Grasset), which chronicles the life of the renowned French chef Paul Bocuse, from his early years in Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or to his global influence in gastronomy. The book details his training under famous chefs like Eugénie Brazier and Fernand Point, his achievement of three Michelin stars in 1965, and his role in developing Nouvelle Cuisine, a modern French culinary movement. Battistella, a journalist and novelist with a long career at the Michelin Guide, has previously written several books with the publisher Grasset. The Prix du Clos de Vougeot, sponsored by the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, recognizes literary works connected to wine, viticulture, gastronomy, or the broader "art of living." The jury, led since 2018 by geographer Jean-Robert Pitte, selected Bocuse as the winner. Last year’s award was given to Florence de La Rivière and Bénédicte Bortoli for L’Œil du vin (La Martinière), a book featuring photographs by Jérôme Bryon. François-Henri Désérable was awarded the Prix Albert-Bichot for his novel Le Palais (Gallimard), published on August 20, 2026. Désérable also served as the guest of honor at the 19th edition of Livres en Vignes. Bruno Verjus received the Prix du premier roman Veuve Ambal for his debut novel La Recette (Albin Michel), released on April 1, 2026. A special mention was given to Eva Bottega for Le Ciel ici déborde (Denoël), published on August 26, 2026. The jury met on September 3, 2026, at the Grand Hôtel La Cloche in Dijon to finalize the shortlist. Livres en Vignes, founded in 2008 by Évelyne Philippe, took place on September 26 and 27, 2026, at the château du Clos de Vougeot in Côte-d’Or. The event brought together approximately 100 authors and was presided over by Frédéric Beigbeder. The winners participated in meetings and book signings throughout the weekend. Gautier Battistella was scheduled to speak on Saturday, September 26, at 15:30 during the session "When History is Made at the Table," alongside Jonathan Siksou and Jean-Robert Pitte.
