ATD Acteurs du Tourisme Durable (ATD) and its partners have announced the 20 finalists for the Horizons Awards 2026. This is the fifth edition of the awards, which aim to highlight innovative projects addressing key challenges in the tourism industry. These challenges include improving accessibility, promoting tourism for all, developing low-carbon mobility, adapting to climate change, and encouraging new sustainable practices. A panel of experts and partners reviewed 75 applications to select the finalists. In the "Vacances pour tous & accessibles" (Vacations for All & Accessible) category, five projects were chosen for their efforts to make tourism more inclusive. These include Vacances Ouvertes with its initiative "10 000 départs, ne rêvez plus partez !" (10,000 departures, stop dreaming and go!), the Bordeaux Métropole Tourism and Congress Office with "Bordeaux Solid’air," L’Aventure Michelin's "accessible to all" initiative, and Provence Tourism with "La Kermesse des Sens." The "Mobilités et voyage bas-carbone" (Low-Carbon Mobility and Travel) category, sponsored by SNCF Connect & Tech, features projects focused on reducing carbon emissions in travel. Finalists include Normandy Tourism for its packaged low-carbon stays, the Grand Avignon Tourism Office with "Explorez le Grand Avignon à véli !" (Explore Grand Avignon by bike!), La Rochelle Tourism with "La Rochelle Océan Pass," and Mad Jacques (KCIOP) with "Mad Jacques Véloscénie Vallée de Chevreuse." Other categories include "Adaptation au changement climatique" (Adaptation to Climate Change), which recognizes projects helping tourism adapt to environmental changes. The finalists here are the Ardennes Tourism Development Agency, Village Vacances Igesa Île des Pins, Ardèche Tourism, the Aix-les-Bains Riviera des Alpes Agency, and the Cité du Chocolat Valrhona. The "Initiative of South Region" category highlights professionals from the host territory of the Sustainable Tourism Universities, with finalists including the Vaison Ventoux Provence Tourism Office, Novotel Marseille Vieux Port, and Nolipro. The "Inspirations of Wallonia" category showcases projects from Wallonia, a region in Belgium. Finalists include Passe Muraille, Maison du Tourisme Explore Meuse, the Project Office of the Parc national de l'Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse, and the Management Commission of the Parc Naturel Hautes Fagnes-Eifel. The winners of the Horizons Awards will be announced on November 26, 2026, during the "Horizons Evening" event at the Centre International des Arts en Mouvement (CIAM) in Aix-en-Provence. The jury includes notable figures such as Caroline Mignon, president of ATD, and Aude Andrup, national coordinator of Tourism at ADEME.
