A fully electric bus now operates on a busy line in Occitanie, marking a step toward greener public transport.
Electric bus starts service in Occitanie
Since Monday, October 12, 2026, a fully electric bus has been operating on the express section of line 402 between Carcassonne and Limoux. This line, which connects Carcassonne to Axat, is among the most frequented in Occitanie.High passenger volume on the route
The line has already transported 160,000 passengers since the beginning of 2026. The arrival of this new vehicle therefore concerns an axis already heavily used by passengers.Electric bus with 400 km range
The 100% electric bus has a stated autonomy of 400 kilometers. Before its deployment, the bus traveled thousands of kilometers of testing to verify its performance and operating conditions.Improved travel times and schedules
The trip between Limoux and Carcassonne now takes approximately 40 minutes, compared to 50 minutes previously. This ten-minute gain is possible thanks to an optimized route and a reduction in the number of intermediate stops, not due to the electric propulsion.Enhanced service with new schedule
On weekdays, 22 departures are offered each day in each direction, with an average bus every 30 minutes during peak hours. On Saturdays, ten departures are planned in each direction, with four additional services compared to the previous offer. On Sundays, four departures are provided in each direction. The fare is set at two euros per trip.
