New rape seed varieties registered

Geves, the Group for the Study and Control of Varieties and Seeds, registered 23 new rape seed varieties in the official French Catalogue of Varieties. These include two varieties resistant to a specific type of soil disease and two rich in erucic acid, which is used for non-food purposes.

CTPS ratings highlight top-performing varieties

Among the 19 conventional rape seed varieties, seven received a CTPS rating of 107 or higher. Helvira and KWS Eternos achieved ratings of 110.2 and 109.9, respectively, indicating strong performance in terms of yield and resistance to certain diseases.

New herbicide for maize announced

UPL plans to launch Kalimba Max, a new herbicide for maize that combines two active ingredients—dicamba and fluroxypyr. It is the only product on the market to use this combination and is expected to be available for commercial use soon.

Application details for Kalimba Max

Kalimba Max is designed to be used after the 2-4 leaf stage of maize to control weeds. It can also be applied later to manage more developed weeds. The recommended dose is 0.8 liters per hectare, often used in combination with other herbicides for broader weed control.

Seed coating solution introduced

Lidea has introduced Nitro Boost, a seed coating solution that combines biofertilization and biostimulation. This product aims to optimize plant nutrition by using selected bacterial strains and unique protein extracts alongside essential nutrients like zinc and manganese.

Benefits of Nitro Boost

According to Lidea, Nitro Boost provides a "starter" effect that promotes root development and uniform germination. Trials showed an increase in dry matter by 23% at the 5-leaf stage of maize and yield gains under various conditions, including water stress and reduced fertilization.

New biostimulant for soil improvement

Via Végétale markets Déchaumactiv, a biostimulant developed with Cobiotex. It uses six bacterial strains to improve soil health and crop productivity by enhancing the soil's natural biological processes.

Application and benefits of Déchaumactiv

Déchaumactiv is applied by spraying at a dose of 100 to 200 grams per hectare. It can be used during planting, in spring, or on crop residues and organic fertilizers. It is said to increase yields by up to 5.5% while reducing the need for chemical inputs and fuel.
